Recife has a sunny climate and high average temperatures most of the year. This is because it is located close to the equator.
Recife is always connected with Boa Viagem, the most famous beach in the city, one of the most beautiful urban beaches in Brazil. But there are several other tourist attractions in Recife that, over the years, have become famous throughout Brazil. Other beaches on the coast of Pernambuco have been attracting more and more visitors in recent years; names like Itamaracá, Maria Farinha and, mainly, Porto de Galinhas, have constantly appeared in magazines specialized in travel and tourism, as candidates for the best beaches in Brazil.
Beautiful beaches and that tropical climate, however, is not everything. The State of Pernambuco has many historical and cultural traditions that set it apart from all other states in the country. Occupied by the Dutch, Recife and Olinda remained under Dutch rule for over 20 years during the period in which they were being built; this occupation by a Protestant European country, added to Portuguese influences (Pernambuco was one of the most prosperous hereditary captaincies), indigenous origins and African customs, gave Pernambuco an unmistakable cultural profile.
For example, a visitor can walk over old bridges that were designed and built by the Dutch invaders that marked the history of Pernambuco, or visit the numerous churches left by the first settlers, the Portuguese, taste several of the dishes that were inherited from the indigenous culture, and dance to the rhythm of maracatu, a rhythm originating in Pernambuco, and frevo, of African origin.
To receive tourists, Recife has a formidable and large tourist infrastructure in the Northeast; as Recife has always been one of the largest regional centers in the Brazilian Northeast, the infrastructure has been developed over decades, which means that businessmen in the sector are more than used to receiving visitors.
A good variety of hotels exist in different categories, most of which are privileged by the proximity of the immense sea that bathes the city. Recife’s gastronomic range, of course, is among the best in Brazil, combining international restaurants and several regional restaurants.
We cannot fail to mention that Recife is always suggested as the starting point for starting trips through the Northeast. Capitals like João Pessoa and Natal are just a few hours away by car, and there are several daily flights to Salvador and Fortaleza.
Here in this site the objective is to give a concise vision of what Recife and Pernambuco have to offer to the visitor.
