Chapada Diamantina National Park

The Chapada Diamantina National Park is without doubt one of the most beautiful examples of the ecosystem of the Savanna. Situated in the State of Bahia relatively close to the Brazilian coastline, in the municipalities of Lençóis, Mucujé, Palmeiras, Andaraí and Ibroara, it was founded in 1985. Known as Chapada Diamantina, it is a region of high plains surrounded by mountains. Owing to its relief and climate which influence the flora and fauna there are rupicolous fields, rocky areas, forests and coppice, making it a paradise for walkers and nature lovers.
